Meater Pro and Meater Plus are both single Bluetooth probes with a booster in the dock, and the similar names hide a real split in what they can survive. Plus tops out at 212°F in the meat and 527°F in the air. Pro goes to 221°F inside and 1000°F outside, with five sensors and a faster charge. For a 250°F brisket, Plus is enough, because the cook never asks for that higher ceiling. Pro is the one you can leave in when the same probe might see a hotter fire.

Those ceilings are maker specifications from the Plus page and the Pro page. The prices are what those pages showed that day. I am not publishing a side-by-side error from my own cooks.

Meater Plus

Plus is the probe for a pit that stays at 225 to 275°F. A brisket that finishes around 203°F is under the 212°F internal limit, and a gentle grate is under the 527°F ambient limit if the handle stays in the air. The dock is a AAA Bluetooth booster. Meater's page puts the phone hop at about 165 feet and says the cooker changes it.

Pros

  • Meater Plus covers a 225 to 275°F brisket, and $79.99 was the list price on 25 October 2026.
  • The internal ceiling of 212°F still clears a packer pulled around 203°F.

Cons

  • Meater Plus at 527°F ambient is the probe you can damage if the hot end sees a ripping fire.
  • Plus probes are not dishwasher-safe, and they do not fit a Pro charger.

Meater Pro

Pro is the extra twenty dollars, on that same day, for a 1000°F ambient ceiling, five internal sensors, Bluetooth 5, and a probe Meater says you can wash. The single Pro still has no Wi-Fi. The charger is not waterproof and not fireproof.

Pros

  • Meater Pro's 1000°F ambient rating is the reason to spend more than Plus.
  • Five internal sensors and a dishwasher-safe probe come in the $99.99 box.

Cons

  • Meater Pro still has no Wi-Fi, so leaving the house is a different model.
  • The Pro charger is not waterproof or fireproof, and Plus probes do not fit it.

Which one for a 250°F brisket

Plus. The cook never needs the 1000°F ceiling, and 203°F is under the 212°F internal limit. Keep the AAA dock near the cooker. The probe-to-dock claim is about 33 feet in open air, and a kamado lid eats into that. The dock-to-phone claim is about 165 feet, which assumes the dock is the thing talking to the phone, not the probe shouting through ceramic by itself.

Move to Pro if you grill hot with the same probe, if you want the dishwasher-safe probe, or if the longer Bluetooth 5 hop matters in your yard. The Pro was sold as Meater 2 Plus. The name changed. The charger did not become a Plus charger.

What neither one does

Neither single probe has Wi-Fi. Leaving the house means a different tool. The Meater Pro Duo is the two-probe charger with Wi-Fi, listed on Amazon at a $179.99 price amount on 25 October 2026. Combustion's Predictive Thermometer with the Wi-Fi Display is the eight-sensor kit with a screen, $229 on Combustion's page. A wired logger such as the FireBoard 2 keeps the signal on a cable. The Meater Pro review spells this out, because the single Pro charger talks Bluetooth to the phone, and that is the whole link.

Placement is the same idea on both. Tip in the meat, ceramic in the air. The full dropout list is Meater not connecting.

Higher ceiling

Meater Pro

High heat, five sensors, Bluetooth 5.

Ambient1000°F maker maximum
Wi-FiNot on the single Pro

Bottom line. The one to buy if Plus's 527°F ambient limit is the sentence that worried you.

Low and slow

Meater Plus

A 225 to 275°F pit, dock kept close, no high-heat sear on the probe.

Ambient527°F maker maximum
Internal212°F maker maximum

Bottom line. Enough for brisket and pork butt. The wrong probe if the ambient end will see a hot fire.

The cook those probes are watching is how to smoke a brisket, seasoned with the brisket rub.
